Albert J. Steren, MD
Dr. Albert Steren is the Medical Director of Gynecologic Oncology at
Holy Cross Hospital and Medical Director of the G.A.T.E. Institute at
Holy Cross Hospital; a training center for advanced laparoscopy and minimally
invasive surgery. He was the first sugeon in the state of Maryland to use the da Vinci® surgical system for minimally invasive surgeries.

He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and obtained subspecialty training in Gynecologic Oncology at The University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Medical Center.
Dr. Steren is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. Steren is also the Medical Director of Advanced Gynecologic
Laparoscopy and Gynecologic Oncology at Anne Arundel Medical Center. In addition, he
was appointed by the Governor of Maryland to the Maryland Council on Cancer Control. Dr. Steren is involved in cancer research protocols and specializes in radical pelvic surgery and gynecologic cancer treatment.
Dr. Steren was recognized as an "Outstanding Physician Specialist" by Washingtonian Magazine and Washington Consumer Checkbook.

Diane J. Snyder, MD
Dr. Snyder received her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She has been in practice since 1990. She specializes in benign gynecology and pelvic surgery with a special interest in pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
Dr. Snyder is proud to have earned the recognition and praise of the medical community by being named an "Outstanding Physician Specialist" in Washington Consumers' Checkbook and Washingtonian Magazine.
James F. Barter, MD
Dr. Barter, a gynecologic oncologist, is perennially noted as one of the “Top Doctors” in the Washington DC area, as well as one of only two Gynecologic Oncologists noted as top doctors in Northern Virginia, and was recognized as one of the country's leading gynecologists by Good Housekeeping. He is currently a Clinical Professor at George Washington University, director of Gynecologic Oncology research at Holy Cross Hospital, and chairman of Gynecology at Suburban Hospital. He received his medical degree from The University of Virginia, did two years of Internal Medicine, four years of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Alabama Medical Center. He then was at Lombardi Cancer Center / Georgetown University Medical Center for 16 years, rising to the rank of Professor.
Dr. Barter’s current interests include surgery using the da Vinci® surgical robot to assist in Gynecologic and Gynecologic Oncology surgery. He has lectured locally and internationally on this topic. For the last four years, Dr Barter has been involved in the development of a blood test to detect Ovarian Cancer, leading to published research on Serum Proteomics. He has received grants to continue research involving several novel approaches to Ovarian Cancer treatments, in conjunction with Holy Cross Hospital.
Amy L. Levav, MD
Dr. Levav graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center of Delaware. She has been in private practice in New York since 1999. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Carolynn M. Young, MD
Dr. Young received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University
School of Medicine. She then completed her residency in Obstetrics
and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. Following residency, she joined a private practice that specialized in urogynecology and pelvic floor surgery. She has been in private practice in Rockville since 2004 after practicing in Chesapeake and Norfolk Virginia area for seven years. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and was nominated for Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Physician's R.I.S.E.S. award in 2006.
Dr. Young is excited to focus her career on gynecology, and she has additional training in minimally invasive surgical techniques and urogynecology.
Dr. Young also has a special interest in perimenopause, contraception, fibroids, and abnormal pap smears.
Alisa K. Studley, RPA
Ms. Studley is a graduate of Cornell University with a major in Biochemical Nutrition and completed her Physician Assistant degree at Touro College on Long Island, New York. She is a former clinical professor at Touro College teaching Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Alisa has over 23 years of Obstetrics and Gynecology experience and is particularly interested in ultrasound.
Nadine F. Flaharty, CNM
Ms. Flaharty completed her graduate degree at Columbia University and has been been in practice as a Nurse Midwife/Practitioner for over 22 years. While she has special interests in menopause and abnormal pap smear management, Nadine also welcomes patients for routine and problem focused gynecologic exams.
Fluent in Spanish, she enjoys seeing all women during all phases of their lives.
Moises N. Steren, MD
Dr. Steren is no longer seeing patients at our practice due to retirement. Current patients are welcome to continue gynecological care by seeing other gynecologic providers at our practice.
